A1 level (divided into A1.1 and A1.2 levels) – beginner level. The student learns to read and write, pronounce words correctly, ask simple questions, and respond briefly. Forms simple sentence structures. Can communicate on basic topics such as family, hobbies, work, and others. Able to communicate by phone and read simple texts.
A2 level (divided into A2.1 and A2.2 levels) – higher beginner level with basic language knowledge. At this level, the student can ask, inquire, and answer simple questions. Can communicate in common everyday situations about familiar topics, when information is needed or provided. Has a general understanding of most grammatical tenses and can use them while speaking. The student can talk freely about themselves, work, hobbies, travel, organizing meetings, and welcoming foreign guests. Also, can talk about their country and places of interest. Able to express emotions and respond to the conversation partner. Can communicate in both formal and informal settings.
B1 level (divided into B1.1 and B1.2 levels) – an intermediate level where the student can clearly communicate and be understood in various situations. Able to discuss topics. The language is more refined and fluent. Can speak freely and spontaneously on both specific and abstract topics. At this level, the student has a deeper understanding of grammar and can write friendly and official letters. Able to express and justify their opinion. Uses more complex sentences and a broader range of vocabulary and synonyms.
B2 level (divided into B2.1 and B2.2 levels) – the student understands complex texts on both abstract and concrete topics. Can communicate smoothly and fluently with native speakers. Can write clear, detailed texts on various topics and explain their views on discussed issues, presenting the pros and cons of different choices. Communicates fluently and spontaneously. Can use complex sentence structures and understands language expressions.
C1 level (divided into C1.1 and C1.2 levels) – the student has an excellent understanding of language structures and their functions, applying them easily in speaking and writing. Can communicate politely and officially in various business, work, or leisure situations, without feeling restricted by vocabulary, adapting fully to the social environment. Uses all tenses and complex grammatical structures while speaking, constructing sentences according to the foreign language’s syntax, rather than translating from Lithuanian. Understands complex texts. Speaks on both general and professional topics, using a diverse and broad vocabulary. Knows and applies various language expression tools. Speaks grammatically and stylistically correctly.
C2 level (divided into C2.1 and C2.2 levels) – the highest level of language proficiency. The student easily understands everything they read and hear. Can express their thoughts freely and vividly, both in speaking and writing. Also capable of analyzing various types of texts and literature, preparing presentations, providing evaluations, comments, and critiques, and engaging in discussions, expressing their position and understanding the opinions of others. Can freely and accurately state their opinion, stance, and views. The use of professional language and terminology does not pose any difficulties in the workplace. Quickly absorbs new material that requires in-depth understanding and always achieves the communication goal.
